The collection of art is impressive considering it's in Milwaukee, WI but even more impressive is the building itself. It's the most photogenic building I've had the pleasure to visit to date. Quite a fascinating place, both inside and out. Walking around outside of it, and coming upon it walking near the lake, its quite a surprise. Inside, the way the light is tossed around by the glass, the different angles and different materials, its both stunning and very playful. more

This is not the largest art museum. It does not have deep collections of old European masters, for example. The collection is stronger in American and modern works. The best part are exhibits that give meaning rather than just cataloging objects. It is worth it to stop by this museum to see the "wings" open (or close) and go inside to look at the atrium area. I also went through the Degas exhibit which was quite well done and had a terrific audio tour. more
