We loved walking around the preserve on the trails, but the previous reviewer is right - take bug spray! You're sure to have a great time - picnic at Lake Joe and sit by the wildflowers and look for alligators. Enjoy! more

We went for a late morning hike in the preserve and it was a good time -- wildlife, flora, pretty/interesting views. The trails were well-kept and not crowded, but beware of horse droppings and DEFINITELY use bug spray. We got about 50 mosquito bites. We saw a large black swan-like bird, baby alligator in Joe Lake, lots of small birds... more

We loved walking though the forest preserve. It was honestly the most enjoyable part of our vacation. The boardwalk keeps your feet dry so that you can walk though the marsh and over a rice paddie.
