I enjoyed going to Split Rock Lighthouse. The guide gave a good tour of the history of the lighthouse. They answered any questions posed by the crowd. There is a nice walkway to the water where the tramstation was and you can take some good pictures of the lighthouse. The exhibits were interesting. They have a good gift shop although... more

Pay the $8 and take the guided tour - its worth it! Guides are in early 1900s clothing. The innkeepers house is just as interesting, which is part of the $8 tour. more

This is a nice attraction. You can not only visit the grounds of the lighthouse, you can actually go up into it. We've visited other lighthouses but this is the first one we could actually climb the spiral staircase and get a good look. There's also hiking trails, Lake Superior and a state park. I have visited the Split Rock Lighthouse for over 19 years. My husbands grandfather lived in Finland, MN, not too far away, and we took many trips to visit him for Thanksgiving and for the summer in those years.
