We went down to Helen for Octoberfest, and visited the Consolidated Gold Mine in Dahlonega, it was a great experience. The guide we had made the whole thing something to do over and over, we are taking our daughter, son-in-law and grandson back this weekend and will surely take them to the mine. A lot of fun! This mine was the site of the first US gold rush. It's a short walk through the actual mine tunnels where the miners worked.
