My name is Kristin and I recently went on an 11 day trip to Beijing, Xi'an, and Shanghai. I traveled with Explorica, an educational travel company, for which I work (www.explorica.com). Our tour included all activities, meals, hotels, excursions and our itinerary was packed! It was a great experience because I got to experience so much in the short time... more

No matter how many photos of this one sees, one will be blown away at the sheer scale of it all. The place is amazing and the warriors are utterly fascinating - even mesmerizing. Our guide was excellent (as was his english) and explained loads of things to us during our two plus hour tour of the site. He approached... more

Our guide took my wife and me to a buffet style Chinese restaurant on the grounds of the Terra-Cotta Warriors and Soldiers Museum before we actually viewed the warriors. The meal cost 45 yuan and was very good. Then we began the tour. It was truly remarkable. The background film, in English, was about 15 minutes long. It gives some... more

We got up at 4:30am to catch our flight from Beijing to Xi'an. The mountains in this region are lovely. It was fun to see the school children walking the streets with their backpacks We traveled in February and the pits have "permanent roofs" but they are not heated spaces...we were chilly inside, but it was so amazing to see... more

Don't miss this when in China. Yes, there are crowds, air quality is poor in Xi'an and it's not easily accessible by public transportation but this is by far one of the most amazing sites to visit in China. The museum and displays in the pits are well maintained and despite the crowds, viewing is not a problem due to... more

I took 30 of my doctoral students to China and Xi'an was one of the highlights if you love history and want to spend time absorbing just what it is you are seeing. We had a fabulous tour guide who knew quite a lot about the warriors, and this helped. I was tired, as many who are tours mention about... more

My wife & I arrived in Xian on the evening of 14th Jan 08 & it had just started snowing. Our hotel (Sofitel) was excellent - foyer & room were 5 star. After check in the concierge said they could arrange a nice car & driver to the TC Warriors the next day for 890 RMB which was a bit... more

Yes, the Great Wall of China is great. And yes, to imagine how it was built makes it even more impressive. But a Wall is a Wall. It is what it is. But consider the craftsmanship, the detail work, not to mention the Feng Shui of the thousands of Terra Cotta Warriors designed to protect the Emperor of Qin 's... more

This is a must-see destination. The emperor had hundreds, maybe thousands of warrior statues made for his burial place. A farmer found part of one in his field, and now many have been pieced together. The museum was built over the field. The statues show different expressions, different uniforms of officiers and cavalry. The horses, also, are spectacular. more

You needn't be Indiana Jones to seek this once lost treasure! The museum and grounds are well laid out to help you make the most of your visit. Everything, including the bathrooms, is clean and welcoming. I went with a guide who did an excellent job of explaining the various elements of the exhibit. You're allowed to take pictures throughout,... more
