We were made to feel so uncomfortable by the local people we cut our stay short by two days. The service we received by national park staff, waiters and waitresses and tourist information staff was laughable - until it reduced me to tears. The kind family from whom we rented an apartment were lovely as wre those at the restaurant... more

Mljet lies west of Dubrovnik and is a 1 hour catamaran ride costing 43Kn from Gruz. It is half national park. Landing in Sobra rather than Polace we hired a little mini car for 210 Kn from MiniBrum which is signposted clearly by the port. The car was about 150 years old, cute and noisy. The Island of Mljet. We stayed here in August in the Saplunara appts as suggested by a fellow trip advisor member and it was 'heaven'. However, rather than rave about how good it was - I think it might be more helpful to leave you with a few tips. 1. Hire a car from the airport before you go. 2.... more
