We went to the Khan as part of our guided tour with Rasha. At first we were worried about the amount of hassle we were going to get and having a 7 year old in tow worried us more. After 10 minutes of finding our feet we were loving the experience. Everybody was so friendly and the bargains are there... more

It is a maze of vendors, stalls and sellers. The Egyptians are amongst the most aggressive salespeople I have ever met. It was hard to adjust to bargaining, and honestly became very annoying, as you are bombarded as you walk past each stall. We found that by knowing what we would pay in USD in our minds before asking the... more

If u wanna get a cab and not being cheated too much I recommend you to catch a yellow taxi (they are all painted yellow). These ones use a meter and the ride ends up being way expensive than bargaining. for example a yellow cab from City stars to the market was 15 EP (about 2 eur). And for the... more

Yesterday I was in Khan Khalili with two friends, it was their first time to be at the market, they were expecting to be hassled at lot, but were surprised at how it had been a fun experience and they felt that most venders were quite pleasant. For shopping it is good to know what your are looking for and... more

Khan El-Khalili is often dismissed as a tacky tourist trap but we really enjoyed it. The shop keepers have to be the smoothest talkers around ("I don't know what you want but I have what you're looking for" was my favourite) and there wasn't the hassle that we'd been warned about. We managed to wander around without being annoyed too... more

Located in Islamic Cairo this place is a must see. We were told it was a tourist trap and that you will not find any bargains. However we didn't visit Khan Al-Khalili until our last day in Cairo and by then we were very used to dealing with the touts and "hassle" that is Egypt! Its an amazing market consisting... more

This is definately something to do while in Cairo, but expect mostly tourist items. The vendors will try to get te best price out of you (see the other reviews & articles about haggling), & may even offer marriage proposals. Don't get separated from your friends or you will have a hard time finding them. A tip for the females,... more
