This temple is a huge incredible riot of glittering gold and color. Pictures on the internet cannot do it justice. Definitely a must-see in Bangkok. I think admission was 200 bahts (free for Thais) and that includes tickets to the Vimanmek Mansion and Abhisek Dusit Throne Hall (in the Duist area of Bangkok near the zoo - I can't comment... more

Okay, this must be said, I was in Bangkok for three days, and on all three I tried to visit the Royal Palace and Wat Phra Kaeo. On the third day it finally came to it, and I wouldn't have missed it for the world. I found that sightseeing in Bangkok was not at all as I thought it would... more

Part of visiting the Grand Palace is seeing the emerald buddha definately worth visiting but nothing exceptional in itself, although the number of tourists would seem to suggest otherwise. Lots of Thai people seem to be on a pilgrimage to see it and your not supposed to take a photo inside the temple - of course theirs always one! more
