We were NOT required to have timed tickets. If you check the website Sept- March do not require the tickets (I guess due to slower season). We went there during the week during the afternoon and walked right in. This must be seasonal. The only wait we had was the front door where they were checking everyone through security (5-10... more

Your ticket to the main exhibits are timed, but the frist gallery was jammed with people. To many to take in the first gallery at all. Many of the interactive exhibits were not working. The galleries that were open(untimed) were much better. more

The museum's motto is "think about what you saw," and the exhibits here do leave an indelible impression. It goes without saying that the Holocaust Memorial Museum is a must-visit. The visit experience is intense. There are several areas in the exhibit that challenge the comfort level in major, but necessary ways. The walk into the exhibition area on the... more

It is difficult to explain or describe this amazing museum. It is beautifully done - thoughtful, organized, shocking, intense, respectful, and emotional are a few words that come to mind. It starts by groups being herded in to looming gray elevators going to the forth floor. People then walk, at their own pace, through the 4th floor, 3rd and 2nd... more

Allow at least two hours to fully absorb all the exhibits. There is a lot to look at! I visited the museum with my 16 year old daughter, who had heard about it from her history teacher. We learned upon arrival (and going through the x-ray security), that admission is free, and you will receive tickets for a designated entry... more

DC's Holocaust Museum was a very thoughtful and well-done look at the tragedies of the Holocaust during WWII. While the nature of the museum is certainly somber, making it hard to write a "glowing" review, the museum is tasteful in its depictions and does a very good job of detailing the rise of Hitler's Germany and the propaganda that went... more

Plan on a few hours of being on your feet. There isn't any food or drink allowed inside so be ready for that. Many exhibits are not for young people or weak constitutions. There is plenty of time to stand, when you see a movie getting over get ready to make a dash for the seats. This way your feet... more

I was very INTERESTED in visiting this as we've been to Dachau, but I was concerned to take my kiddos. Let me say to you - we spent 5 hours there and it was very child appropriate. The Daniels Story Exhibit was their favorite. We even chose to take our 8 and 11 year old into the permanent exhibit which... more

I had put off going to the holocaust musuem for several years, We live in the DC area so getting there would not be a problem. I was not sure that the emotional aspects of the musuem would be something I could handle. We had lived in Germany 15 years ago, not far from Dachau, however after visiting the holocaust... more

We arrived about 45 minutes before our ticketed time of 4 P.M. First up was a long security line of almost 15 minutes just to get into the building. Next, we checked out the Daniel's Story exhibition. This is geared toward children and if you are visiting with young ones, definitely check it out. Since we didn't have any with... more
