We were not luck enough to have been able to arrange a tour. I was told by our Congressmen that you have to arrrange tours sometimes as far as six months in advamce depending on what time of year you go. We were able to see the outside from all sides from the Oval Office and the Rose garden. Honestly,... more

Of course im late but I wanted to add my review since I had the pleasure of visiting 9 years ago while on a college tour. There were no letters to congressmen or senators and we went through a security check and walked in. While there was a barrier circling the room so certain items you couldnt touch you still... more

My husband and I were fortunate enough to score a White House tour through our Congressperson. We were asked for our social security numbers for a pre-screening. The White House tour was extremely inconvenient since practically nothing is allowed inside. No bags, cameras etc and no where to store them while going on the tour. It would be nice if... more

I lived in Arlington for 1 year prior to 9/11 and tried to get into the White House many times but to no avail. Finally, I was able to score an appointment thru my Congressman. Well... going thru security and getting inside the White House took longer than the self guided tour. The only give you a small pamphlet. Thank... more

I went on this tour with my son and daughters scout troops and the review is spot-on regarding pushing you through the room with little or no information from people there unless you really really REALLY push questions on the secret service guards. Even then, they were not sure how to answer most of the questions. At one point, a... more

Gone are the days when you could line up outside the White House and just get in. The only way to do it now is to make a tour request (and go through a police check) through your Congressman or Senator (I would recommend Congressmen, as Senators get a lot more requests). We went during Spring Break, and our Congressional... more

I have been unable to secure a tour. I've been trying for over a year, and have been unsuccessful. From the outside though, it still effects. Having seen so many pictures of the building, seeing it in person was really terrific. more

You can see the building and it is beautiful. And now i can tell people that i have seen it. I think seeing the guy on the roof with a rifle is cooler and the large man in the bushes just inside the fence with a rifle was pretty cool too... he almost scared me because i didnt see him... more

We scheduled our tour through our Senator's office and were got in line and the guy checked our I.D.s and our letter with our tour confirmation number on it. We were feeling sorry for this couple from Wisconsin next to us who had been shuttled to the side because they didn't have proper tour paperwork, but then we were told... more
