I visited on a rainy Saturday. Crowded, but according to my local guide (best friend) this was nothing compared to a sunny weekend. We ate at a Asian bistro. We had the soup. Fantastic, considering it was situated amongst the street vendors. The selection of produce, spices, cheeses, meats, teas were remarkanble, and I definitely think I'd frequent the place... more

The Naschmarkt is a wonderful assault on the senses - the displays in the market section are wonderful to see and smell. Make sure that you also take a wander down the cafe and restaurant section as well, as we ate here on both our nights in Vienna and the food was excellent; we had Weiner Schnitzel the first evening... more

Anyone with a passing interest in food should make the Naschmarkt a place to visit in Vienna. In fact make it a point to take a meal there either by sampling at the many stalls or by trying one of many restaurants situated in the market. On Saturdays there is a flea market at the South end of the area.... more

Everything you would need to create a feast can be found here: meat and cheeses, fruits and vegetables, bakery goods, olives, a barrel of sauerkraut. Also a variety of places to find a ready-cooked meal. We chose a Kebap stand. The food was just delicious, the beer superb. And, we were fortunate to meet and have lunch with a man... more

Excellent market and one of my favorite things from my trip to Vienna. The market stretches several city blocks and is full of pretty much anything you could possibly want to eat. There are grocery items, spices, a barrel of sauerkraut, an amazing vinegar selection, restaurants and fast food stands. Some of the restaurants, kebab stands and the like don't... more

This long market is open very early and is a good option for anyone in Vienna before other sites open. The market is the length of several city blocks. This is not really a flea market. Several of the shops appear permanent and are in buildings. There is a lot of fruit, vegetables, meat, cheese, candy, flowers, spices and other... more

This is an amazing permanant food market where you can buy anything from a carrot to exotic oriental spices. The atmosphere is more of an eastern market with traders calling and offering samples. On Saturdays a fleamarket extends the Naschmarkt even further where anything from junk to antiques are offered for sale. more

We lived in Vienna for two years, from 1985-87. One of our favorite places was the Naschmarkt. There is food from all over the world. I remember particularly a huge assortment of olives of every color and marinade, in gigantic barrels. Fresh produce, cheeses and ethnic grocery items also abound. The fleamarket on Saturdays is also great fun. I would... more

more
