The Parthenon, built on the Acropolis, really is an architectual wonder. Study up a little on the history to ge the full impact of it. Spring and autumn are better times to visit, as the middle of summer can get scorching hot, and little shade is offered on the rock. If you do go in summer, bring a hat and... more

This is something that was worth traveling all the way to Greece. I spent three days in Athens and enjoyed every minute! I went in late April, so the weather was perfect - in the low 70s, with very little humidity. The Greeks have an abundance of local fruit and vegetables (apparently) year-round, so we ate very well.
