We visited Accademia, having prepared ourselves for a reasonable waiting time. We were at the gallery a little before 10am as it was only a few minutes walking distance from our great little hotel. We were amazed to see a queue at the 'Reservations' door, whilst the door for off the street entry, no reservations had no queue whatsoever. I... more

14 Euro with reservation or 10 Euro and a couple of hours wait. Either way it is not worth it. Compared with almost any other attraction in the world this is not worth it unless you have to see the original David. Like most Museums in Florence, there are no significant explanations and the staff is not helpful (the one... more

My husband and I felt that the Uffizi was a little above our heads, but we enjoyed the Accademia. Even though there are David replicas all over the city, the one inside was great. It was cleaner and brighter and showed more detail than the others. My husband didn't really want to go because of all the replicas, but was... more

This was the highlight of my trip to Italy. The Galleria had a lot of interesting sculptures and art besides seeing David. Ordering tickets ahead of time is a must. Make sure you get them from the Galleria's web site. more

You get to see The David. What else is there to say except; make a reservation before you go so you can avoid the 2-3 hour line. REALLY. Go early in the morning so you can actually get up close and personal with out tons of other people trying to do the same thing.Don't expect to be blown away by... more

We had pre-booked tickets for the Accademia, but didn't discover until we were actually in front of the ticket office that the 15th and 16th century galleries were closed until late May 2008. Consequently there was little of interest apart from Michelangelo's David and the slaves - there were a couple of Botticellis and an Uccello, otherwise the paintings stacked... more

Toured in November, 2007. Smaller museum. Has 6 unfinished works of Michelangelo's which you walk through to get to David. You turn a corner and there's David. Tall and a perfect work of art. Incredible that he was carved from a single piece of marble! You can circle all around him admiring the perfection and amazing at what Michelangelo was... more

After seeing museums/galleries in Rome, London and France, Accademia is surprisingly small. there was 3 rooms (unless there were other's we weren't aware of). The main attraction is David and some uncompleted works of Michaelangelo. The uncompleted works impressed me the most probably becuase i've never seen them before (David being quite commericalised) and the statues did look like they... more

My boyfriend and I were traveling for 2 weeks in Italy, with a one night stop in Florence. We made a 5pm reservation for the Accademia (it was a Friday night) and when we got there, people were pouring out the doors. There was a note on the building saying 'Closed at 5pm for staff meeting'. We were confused, because... more

I'm not an art historian but I do appreciate masterpieces when I'm in their presence. That's why I really liked the Accademia. David had me spellbound for almost a half hour reading the history (the Accademia has excellent Italian/English descriptions for each piece of art) and then exploring every inch of the amazing detail. Seeing David in person is worth... more
