The day was cool and rainy at times. The tour coach dropped us off at Kate Kierney's Cottage and most folk headed for the horse-drawn jaunting carts. I elected to walk. This is definitely a must see! My party and I travelled up by car (1st and 2nd gear only!) as it was well after 6.00 pm - but when next in Ireland I shall do this again via horse and trap. Absolutely beautiful scenery of the raw kind! more

The Gap of Dunloe was one of the highlights of our trip to Ireland. We hired a horse-drawn jaunting cart at Kate Kearney's Cottage. Honestly, unless you're REALLY into hiking, it's the only way to go. The trip to the top is long and arduous.
