After the shock of paying £12 to enter a church, you soon realise that it's going to be a long and interesting visit. Get there early to avoid the crowds. Price includes a very interesting audio guide and staff are on hand to answer questions and show you where particular people are buried should you be looking for someone. (I... more

Just returned from London. Although I do not think it is right to pay to go into Churchs when museums in London are free, I did relent most reluctantly and paid my £9.00 senior citizen rate for the visit. What an awesome place. Steeped in history, a wonderful place which takes you back into our historical past. Tombs of Kings... more

For historical value, you probably can't find a place in London that surpasses Westminster Abbey. The list of famous personages that are buried or memorialized there would require a great deal of space and can be found elsewhere on the Internet. (Try Wikipedia.) As a place of worship, however, it's a sad commentary on the state of religion in England.... more

I went to London and was planning to visit Westminster Abbey. I was with a large group and we all took pictures of the front of it. Westminster Abbey is beautiful outside. The bad and disappointing part was that we didn't get to go in. Westminster Abbey was closed that day because the prince was coming or something of that... more

It's a magnifical monument, full of history and meaning. The Central Nave is splendorous such as the laudable recovery of the High Altar, at the time of my visit. The Shrine, Chapels, Tombs, Organ, Quire and Cloisters are more than enough argument to visit it, which enriches this Royal symbol of London. I recomend to beware with pickpockets, specially at... more

Westminster Abbey is a treasure trove of history and art. During the week, you can spend large amounts of money getting tours, but we found the most enjoyable way to experience the Abbey was to attend a Sunday service. While not being religious ourselves, we were warmly welcomed to attend the Evensong service in early May 2008. For that service... more

Definitely was on my short list of things to do in London. It did wow in the areas I was expecting and I found some new surprises. Yes, you are not allowed photos but I found I was too busy staring to do much else. Brush up on your British history, science and literary history before you go, makes it... more

Westminster Abbey “Spectacular, Utterly, Breathtaking” One of the greatest examples of Medieval Architecture known to man, this place is a wellspring of beauty and historical depth. I first glimpsed Westminster whilst touring the city on a bus with my parents, immediately I was struck by its sheer beauty and when I actually got to see it up close, and saw... more

First up dont expect a church/cathedral on the inside - the Abbey is purely a tomb. May be just me but I find walking around people's final resting place as too morbid and not particularly interesting. Dont be fooled by it's magnificent exterior, the inside is not that appealing and you are not able to take photos. Be prepared for... more

This is one of the most amazing places I have ever visited on the planet. The amount of history in this one location is hard to imagine. It has almost been a year since my visit and I still think of the Abbey often. One bit of advice--pay a few extra pounds and get a guided tour. You actually get... more
