Bought our 'peasant class' groundling tickets to 'The Merry Wives of Windsor' based on so many of the reviews on TripAdvisor, and we were not disappointed. My daughter had her doubts, after having slogged through so much Shakespeare in school, that this play would be funny and entertaining, but she was a convert after the first scene. We didn't get... more

Seeing Merry Wives of Windsor here was a treat! Strongly recommended! We sat in the first level, and we could see just fine. We also took the tour beforehand. The exhibits were good, and the tour (which takes you inside the theatre) was very good. You can get 20% off the price, if you show them the "London Smartsave Streetmap"... more

Not being familiar with The Merry Wives of Windsor and wary of the complexioties of the synopsis, the superb acting and production brought it all to life. A great experience; hugely enjoyable. However a whisky at the bar afterwards soured the experience being charged £6.50. They don't make it obvious that they serve only large measures. I could imagine many... more

While the Shakespeare plays do sell out in advance, there is opportunity to queue up for returned tickets or standing room an hour before the show. While standing for three and a half hours can be a tad uncomfortable, the ability to lean on the front of the stage in Shakespeare’s Globe (for just £5) and watch something amazing like... more

We got the peasant class, standing ticket for the show. The trick is to get in early and stand in the round front section. The show was outstanding, everyone(even the teenagers) were laughing throughout the show. What a great value! more

I recently saw the Merry Wives of Windsor at the Globe. I had standing tickets. I was not really excited about going because it had been raining and I only found out right before I went that I had to stand the whole time. I was planning on leaving after a little bit but I stayed and loved it! This... more

Get the five pound "penny stinker" or yard tickets. It's a great way to be entertained cheaply and it is so immediate. Get there early and stand at gate 4. You can literally lean up against the front of the stage and all around it. It was a very unique experience. If standing for a couple of hours is not... more

Unfortunately we have yet to visit London during the summer months so have only been able to "do the tour" and visit the museum which we thoroughly enjoyed. The section where one can listen to different actors presenting the same Shakespeare speech was particularly interesting. E.g. comparing Olivier, Gielgud, Burton, Jacobi and others giving the "To be or not to... more

Going to Shakespeare's Globe is one experience that just doesn't disappoint. I've been several times a year for the past few seasons. Most fun (even though I'm in my sixties) is to go and stand - tickets cost £5. This to me is actually preferable to paying for a seat: the groundlings (i.e. those standing) have an infectious sense of... more

My 14 year old daughter and I did the tour on Tuesday afternoon, cost £10, I thought this was a bit much for a tour but my daughter wanted to do it. The chap who showed us around was enthusiastic helpful and very knowledgable, we saw rehearsals for the opening of a new play that evening and the exhibits on... more
