QUEENSTOWN, SOUTH AFRICA

Because South Africa was once one of the Dominions of the United Kingdom, the English Royal Family and it's history is still of much importance in our country. Of course, the facade of Buckingham Palace is one known to literally every South African, but to actually be at the Palace, and indeed, inside of such building, is awe-inspiring. "Magnificent" is... more

We were able to book a private tour of the State Rooms through the Royal Collection website. This is offered a few days during August and September (the last one being Sept. 5, when we took it.) Although it was expensive, it was well worth it as we were able to tour the State Rooms with a private guide provided... more

We visited the Palace and the State Rooms Tours in August. We pre-booked our tickets for the 12.45 tour which gave us time to watch the Changing of the Guard ceremony which finished at 12.30. Just a minute walk to the tour entrance. Everything was well organised. The Ballroom was set for a state banquet and the precision of the... more

My husband and I took the State Rooms tour on 31 August. From start to finish the tour was well organized. We bought tickets for the 3:45 p.m. tour. We were early, so we visited the palace gift shop across the street. The tour was everything we had hoped for and more. One of the highlights was the ballroom that... more

The Palace tour is definitely worth doing if you are in London during August or September. It is a bit expensive, but still worth it. One tip is to buy advanced tickets. You will be given a time to enter and just show up about 10 min before your time and you will be allowed to enter. Also, you do... more

We went to the State Rooms today, which included the gardens. We did not pay extra for the tour that included the Mews and Queen's Gallery. The audio guide was very helpful, and very clever at keeping everyone moving through the rooms at a good pace ("Now take a look at the clock at the far end of the room..."... more

Yes, it's quite expensive to visit the palace, but absolutely wonderful and well worth it. If you're a UK taxpayer and gift aid your admission you can come back as many times as you like within the next 12 months. Everything about the visit was excellent. The rooms and garden were more wonderful than I anticipated with superb paintings and... more

I didn't take a tour inside of Buckingham Palace, but I did watch the changing of the guards. I got to Buckingham Palace at about 10:55 AM and got a good standing place on the edge of the street. I loved the changing of the guards. They played music and walked in unison. It was one of the coolest things... more

It's always fun watching the changing of the guard at Buckingham Palace. However, it's pretty ridiculous having to get there early to get a good spot. Can't miss this English icon especially if it's a 1st trip to London but once you've been too many times, you kinda get over it. I personally much prefer Windsor Castle more

Definitely one of the cooler places I have been to. The palace is very beautiful and there is a lot of history that is well explained with the included audio guide. Downside is that there isn’t really that much to see (I was done in under two hours) and it isn’t really that cheap. There are also no pictures allowed... more
