I had not been in Toronto for years and so, on a recent trip, I made a point of visiting the ROM. I could not believe how ugly the new addition is. But if the outside is hideous (and it is), the interior is worse. Sloppy displays, poor lighting, crazy rooms all made me feel like I was in a... more

Last week I finally got around to visiting ROM to see for myself what all the fuss was about. The outside is about as ugly as things get, but I wanted to see the exhibitions, so I kept my revulsion in check until I got inside. The $20 admission fee was a bit of a shock. "Am I paying to... more

I agree with some of the reviewers here, the cost (17 for students, 20 for general public) is about double than other better museums in the world...but did I regret going, no at all. Next time I go to Toronto I will visit this museum again. I really enjoyed the 3rd floor with Bizantine Art and Egyptian Art. I also... more

This is one of the better museums my husband and I have been to. Their collections are extensive, and the artifacts fascinating. I've never been to a museum that played music complimentary to the exhibit - like a lyre/harp played by a live musician in the Greek exhibit. Our favorite part of the museum was the dinosaur exhibit. I have... more

Looking to kill a few hours while on a business trip to Toronto, I thought I'd check out the ROM. Upon arrival, I had to go through a long back-and-forth weaving through ropes for what would have been a line up, but there wasn't anyone else in line. Staff at the ticket booth weren't particularly welcoming and were more interested... more

The makeover of the ROM is an architectural eyesore of the worst sort. If you are not repulsed by the outside, you have a stronger stomach than this reviewer. Inside, the shapeless, formless galleries look like the substructure of a carpark. If you like your museums to be prisonlike and hostile, then this is the place for you. This is... more

I used to enjoy visiting ROM. That was before they tried to be trendy with their new addition. This new "train wreck" of an building (it looks like scrap metal), misses the point of a museum badly. Whereas ROM once focused on displaying its art, in galleries that were modest and discrete, it has now become a pretentious billboard for... more

Went to the Rom a couple of weeks ago knowing that some major galleries were not open but excited to see the Egyptian gallery. I was really impressed with the medieval areas. The presentation is just wonderful and rich. I especially enjoyed the Gothic art and appreciated the explanatory signs alot. Spent alot of time here. Came to see the... more

I would give it a 5, but they have a lot of renovations going on, which makes things difficult to access, or find altogether. They do have a great map of the place, and offer assistance upon entering. The gift shop is pretty good, but I think they could offer more merchandise. The displays are wonderful-easy to understand, follow. There... more

If you have been to museums in other cities, don't waste your time on this one. We were very disappointed. First, the signage on some of the exhibits is so far down that you have to kneel or bend down to read. 2nd, there is a glare with the glass so some of the signs are difficult to read. 3rd,... more
