Granville Island is a treasure chest of goodies. Shops with all kinds of unique gifts made by artisans. Pottery, scarfs, jewelry. A good portion of it can be pricey, but some of it is reasonable. We went here twice, just loved how eclectic and funky the place was...and GREAT food selection. I had some amazing Dungenous Crab...yum! We took a cab from the hotel. The tourist trolley also stops through here. WORTH A VISIT!!! more

I had read all of the rave reviews about Granville. My family and I were staying at a condo in Yaletown, and so we took the water taxi over to Granville one evening. As it turns out, everything shuts down at 5 and 6 pm, so nothing was open. So we walked around and got a flavor for the island.... more

Granville Island is rated as one of the best neighborhoods in North America, it is a good story of how it was rebuilt from a rundown warehouse district to the quaint little area it is today. I don't recommend trying to get here by car - the traffic is really awful and it is very hard to find a parking space anywhere. I tried for 2 days driving in from Surrey (1.5 hrs to go less than 20 miles) and then spent the next 45 mins trying to find parking. Worth going to for sure but... more
