September 2008..We booked the Tulum Mayan Ruins Express tour through Royal Caribbean. It says that the excursion is 6 1/2 hours. Just be aware that 4 1/2 hours of it is travel time. I wish someone told me that! The bus was air conditioned and roomy with a bathroom on board. The whole trip there, there is a local tour... more

Our hotel in Playa wanted $60 each for a van transport/tour of Tulum but we did it on our own. We caught a colectivo (passenger van) in town, just ask one of the store owners where (it is near Juarez and 15 Av Norte). It cost $3.50 each way/person and the ride is one hour. 5 minute walk from main... more

Las Ruinas were awesome to behold. This place is definitely worth it!! Let me give you the rundown: Plan to get there as early as you can, at the very least before 1 pm since that's when all the tour buses from Cancun show up. If you are staying in Tulum, it's a very short taxi ride from your hotel... more

I loved this place. As if the ruins aren't enough, there is the most gorgeous beach ever. Bring your suit and take your time at this beach. If I were mayan, this is where I would have wanted to live. Seriously one of the most stunning places I have even been to. Do not miss this if you are in... more

After reading several reviews on TA that were so helpful, I thought I'd give back and give my review of Tulum. My husband and I were in PDC for a week and after reading everyone's feedback, we ventured to rent a car and drive to Tulum vs. riding a tour bus package. and boy was that a GREAT decision! It... more

Tulum was great to see from a historical, cultural perspective. It has the added bonus of having a gorgeous, secluded beach directly behind the ruins. This beach was great after wandering the ruins on a hot day. Iguanas were everywhere! Some of them were quite large. Our tour guide was very knowledgeable and friendly. We went here as an excursion... more

This place was beautiful! You must do a bit of walking so wear tennis shoes and bring water and sun glasses because there is limited shade. The ruins were exquisite and more than likely you will have a tour guide. After the guide finishes the story about the ruins, you are free to roam on your own but not for... more

We rented a car and drove down to Tulum on Saturday June 21. We arrived just a little after it opened and it was pretty empty. We were able to explore and it didn't feel touristy. There is a shuttle at the parking lot that will take you to the entrance of the ruins. It cost $2 per person. We... more

Visited Tulum on 6/14/08 during our trip to Cancun (6/13-6/18). We are active people and were looking to get away from the hustle and bustle of the Hotel Zone to see some important sites in the area. We booked a private tour to Tulum from Cancun using Entertainment-Plus (who we highly recommend). It took around 1 1/2-2 hours to get... more

My wife and I visited the ruins of Tulum and found that the ocean front ruins were quite breathtaking. The back of the largest pyramid overlooks the ocean. The architecture was gorgeous and the heiroglyphics you could see on several of the ruins were intriguing. We were originally offered the tour of these ruins which would have cost us $100... more
