i can't say enough good things about my experience at rio secreto. the caves were overwhelming...i kept wondering if i'd stumbled into another world because it was so quiet and serene yet exciting because the surroundings were so different than anything i've ever seen. This is a must see if you are anywhere near Cancun or Playa Del Carmen. It's less than 1 mile south of Xcaret heading towards Tulum. There is a small sign that reads Rio Secreto. The tours are booked for 9am, 11am, or 1pm. It was $49 USD per person if you book on site. This is my favorite place... more

For something very different and interesting, visit the cenote cave of Rio Sectreto. I have only been in one cave before, Merrimack, in Missouri, and this beats that caving experience by far! As a seasoned traveller I älways look for the off-track options that a destination may offer. Rio Secreto, which is managed by Alltournative, is a must-see place. You will be amazed even my teen age kids were. It will take your breath way. You'll enjoy the underground rivers like never before they provide all the gear including the wet suits. All very worth it for only $40.00US Dls if purchase right there. Only 15 min from Playa del Carmen it's right next to Xcaret more
