The Monserrat Volcano Observatory (MVO) is an observatory in the true sense of the word--it's focus is volcano research, not tourism. Not to suggest you'll met any of the researchers or see them in action, you won't. For visitors, you have a distance view of the volcano, and some posters. We of course have visited the MVO. The scientists who conduct the oreintation are very wiling to share their extensive information on the history of the eruptions and the geological reasons as to why there is volcanic activity. The pictures in the Observatory are a graphic reminder of the devasation that the vocano activity wreaked on the former capital city... more
