Two kids (8 & 10), mom, and dad took the long tour and enjoyed it. Unlike Mammoth or Carlsbad Caverns, Wind Cave has mostly small spaces, but it's one of only caves in the world where you will see "boxwork" formations. Interestingly, no stalactites or stalagmites. Capsfan2002 does a pretty good detailed review. I toured the cave in May 2008. Only one of several tours was open that day. I also have toured several caves all over the US. Only minor formations in this cave due to dry conditions. No big rooms in the cave. Not a very exciting tour for me. Nice gift shop, exhibits... more

Toured in July, 2007. I have toured a few caves in my life, including Jewel Cave National Monument which is also located in the Black Hills, but hadn't ever stopped at the Wind Cave. It was a blistering hot day so I only wanted to do site seeing which involved cool places. So...a cave was the spot to be! Wind... more
