We booked a trip down Haleakala and were really happy with the whole experience. Tim was our guide and really gave us a ton of information, pointed out some awesome stuff, and was quite the comedian as well! He made sure we didn't miss a thing on the way up, and gave us plenty of time to sightsee at the... more

Haleakala Bike Company performed superbly for the self-guided bike tour. If you are considering a bike tour down Haleakala, we highly recommend you go with bikemaui.com On suggestion, we went on the 1st full day of our vacation in August 2008. My husband and son both thought this sounded like a good activity. However, at 1:00 AM when we had... more

Did the Haleakala self-guided sunrise tour on July 27 2008. Although we did the tour our first morning (after 1.5 hours of sleep after only arriving at our hotel at midnight!) it was well worth it! I would recommend doing it the first day you are there - when else are you going to want to wake up at 2am?... more

Though we had to get up at a crazy hour (1:30am!), though we had to drive a long way (45 min - 1 hr) and though it was cold on top of the dormant volcano (about 40 degrees!), this was our favorite excursion while in Hawaii. We drove to a small town called Haiku and checked in at 3am. Only... more

Basically, it was an OK way to spend a morning, but not at ALL worth what we paid. In retrospect, it would've been way better to just drive our rental car up for the sunrise, hike the crater for a couple hours, then drive back down. There were a couple of things worth seeing along the road on the way... more

The guy below sums up the downside. I definitely didn't think it was worth waking up at 1:45am. But if you are into that, this company is probably the best. The other tours make you ride in a big group. LAME. I saw them and it seemed horrible. more

Do yourself a favor and sleep in! None of the bike tours depart from the top of the volcano anymore (thanks, I learned, from the most recent fatality of someone who hadn't been on a bike since the advent of indoor plumbing). Rather, the biking starts outside of the National Park (4,000+ feet from the summit and close to the... more

My new husband and I decided to go with Haleakala Bike Company for the unguided bike tour down the volcano, and we couldn't be happier with our decision. I had done a lot of research on trip advisor before our trip and couldn't decide whether to do a guided or unguided tour, but we are soooo happy that we did... more

My hisband's fiftieth birthday present was a trip to Maui. The Haleakala Bike Co was highly recommended to us. This is a must do on Maui. We stayed at a Band B in Makawau only ten minutes away. Think of this as you have to arrive very early in the morning for the Sunsire Express. Highly worth it! They provided... more

Perfect arrangement for our family. We did the 9am summit in mid-May, so it was warming up by the time we got to the top (still needed a jacket because of the strong wind). Great views. They stop by the visitor's center on the way up and down so you can use the restroom. When we checked in, they offered... more
