Even though mid-summer is supposedly "off-season" for seeing alligators and other wildlife in the Everglades, we were pleasantly surprised, seeing three large 'gators, many fish and numerous birds, including Anhingas. We had only a few hours to spare for Everglades and asked a ranger where we'd be likely to see wildlife. He recommended this trail, and boy was he right! We saw dozens of alligators, an incredible variety of wading birds, turtles, and even a snake. Definitely worth a sidetrip. more

Probably the best known of the trails, but none the worse for that. Trail is very well maintained and easy to negotiate. Photo opportunities are great, with copious amounts of wildlife. Alligators, wading birds & lizards are the main stars. more
