This is the museum honoring the great Japanese animator, Miyazaki. The museum is a truly magial place. I had never seen any of his stuff before I went there but had a great time anyway. The layout and decor of the place encouraged exploration and enjoyment, and we got to learn a little bit about animation and how it is... more

We really enjoyed this interactive museum. It's playfulness is a nice contrast to the seriousness of temples and museums, so it's a nice diversion mid-way through a trip. (It's also a good place to see Japanese children enjoying themselves.) The building itself is visually interesting (and the interior somewhat steam-punk). It's a fun visit even if you don't know anything... more

If you're a fan you'll like the Ghibli museum. I'm personally not a fan but my wife is, so we went there. The ticket system is quite strange, you need to get one BEFORE you enter Japan; they don't sell any tickets there! So you better be prepared.. The museum itself is pretty neat.
