Too bad Cruces has to resort to Lorenzo's for Italian more
On a visit to Las Cruces I was taken to the Torch Restaurant at Meson de Mesilla and treated to the "chef's table." We sat at nice wood table in the kitchen near the pastry chef's work space. It was attractively set with arrangements of herbs & spices. The meal consisted of nine courses. Chef Jacob Hilbert told us about... more
Good place to take relatives from out of town to. more
After reading some of the complimentary reviews of La Posta, I was surprised to discover that the food here is mediocre at best. Our entrees were undercooked and tasteless.Thankfully the margaritas were palatable. If you want a relatively cheap tourist trap, this is the place for you.Personally, the best part of our dining experience was chatting up the toucans in the... more
We were extremely dissapointed in our dinner. High prices for low quality food comparible to Costco's. We had the SPECIALTY OF LA POSTA for $14. - Not worth it!!! The food was very dry and served luke warm. Disasembled the cheese enchalada and we found about 1/5 slice of unmelted cheap cheese surrounded by a rubbery tortilla - the bit... more
Pretty Good; I really like it. The wait is long unless you make a reservation, and it's kind of overrated to me. It is the place to take tourists though because of the atmosphere, but you can get just as good mexican food at other places. more
I cannot say enough to convey how awful this restaurant is. It is just awful. It is a good theing the place is beautiful. It's beauty makes a nice backdrop to an otherwise dreary, dirty, dismal dining experience. And hey if you are going to have all of those wines, teach your servers what they are and how to PRONOUNCE... more
What a peculiar experience. First of all the wait staff was superb. Our server was smart, attentive, attractive, and very clearly more sophisticated than what we were expecting, she knew the wines and apprently knew the chef and his cuisine quite well, we asked her name, her name was Julie and our attentive front of the house manager was Janet.... more
I loved the green enchiladas I got the enchilada sampler plate on first vist and had to return to eat a plate of the green! A busy restaurant come early but do go. more
We've been here for both lunch and dinner. The lunch menu consists of nice gourmet sandwiches and salads. For dinner, we like to get a bottle of local wine (for a song - $15!) with our food. Everything we've had has been great -- steaks, pork, chicken, pasta and fish. The atmosphere is nice too. You can usually get in... more
We've heard all the talk around town about the Bistro, and I must say it's absolutely the best dining experience yet. First off, I was intriqued by the selection of New Mexico Wines. The staff explained about their wine fights for $6.00, We couldn't resist! We saw their patio packed with people, they had music that evening. Live jazz, our... more
This formidable restaurant is actually located in Mesilla, just off the plaza. Parking is diagonally across the intersection. The entryway is large with parrots, fish, a gift shop, etc. The food is great. Although we had a 6:30 reservation, we became hungry and arrived at 5:30. Despite a waiting line, we were seated promptly. This is a large restaurant with... more
This is a wonderful place, with a beautiful, traditional patio and delicious food. I had the steak and enchiladas. The portions are huge, and the service friendly and quick. I would eat here every week if I lived in Mesilla. more
My main problem was I found the chairs extremely hard and uncomfortable. My meal was just average, and overpriced for what I got. Don't expect the giant platters you usually get in good Southwestern restaurants. After having lunch in the excellent El Comedor Restaurant, a few minutes walk on Avenida de Mesilla, this was extremely disappointing. more
We can not say enough about this place, first we were a bit worried about bringing the kids to a wine bar, but the staff was great, so much so they let our kids sit by themselves on the patio while we got a wine flight at the bar. (for some reason they you can only get wine flights at... more
I do not know what has happened here, perhaps this time I just chose the wrong day to dine here. I choose to dine here a few times a year with special friends, and always make a reservation in advance requesting specific seating. We arrived on time and were escorted into the dining room and were not given the table... more
La Posta is an excellent restaurant for for the traveler to the Las Cruces area. It is Mexican cuisine at its best. I always enjoy the fast, friendly service, and the excellent food. I recommend calling ahead for reservations, because it does get busy, especially on weekends. I have always been ushered right to a table when I have done... more
Good food, maybe a little bit too tourist-y more
We tried to go here at 7pm on a Saturday night, but the overwhelmed hostess told us it would be an hour and fifteen minute wait, so we went to Nopalito instead. La Posta de Mesilla was definitely tourist-oriented, with shops in the foyer selling local crafts and tourist items. So my advice is to call ahead to find out... more
