I went there in September with 3 other female members of my family. Despite the fact that it was Ramadan and most places were deserted we were more than adequately looked after. On arrival (after a 40 minute drive from the airport) I was a little bit perturbed by the number of security guards on duty (I counted eight between the pavement and check in, along with an airport style walk through metal detector) but these are dangerous times and it is better to be safe than sorry.
